 "Enga Provincial Hospital: A Landmark Achievement in Healthcare, Thanks to Sir Peter Ipatas"


The Enga Provincial Hospital stands as a testament to the transformative vision and dedication of the Enga Provincial Government, led by Governor Sir Peter Ipatas. This state-of-the-art medical facility, constructed at a cost exceeding K500 million, represents a significant advancement in healthcare infrastructure for the region. 

Strategically located within Enga Province, the hospital boasts a capacity of 300 beds, encompassing essential healthcare departments. The development features predominantly single-story buildings, complemented by car parking, landscaping, and enhancements to incoming infrastructure. Adjacent to the hospital is a staff housing project, ensuring that medical personnel have convenient access to accommodation. 

The project was executed in phases, with the initial stage culminating in the completion of a 150-bed wing. This phase also included the construction of 50 single quarters for nurses and doctors, as well as family units and apartments, underscoring the comprehensive planning dedicated to supporting hospital staff. 

The official opening of the hospital marked a significant milestone, symbolizing the culmination of years of planning and collaboration. Prime Minister James Marape expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government for funding the hospital and acknowledged the Australian Government's contributions to healthcare infrastructure across the country. He highlighted Governor Sir Peter Ipatas's relentless efforts since 2009 to bring this project to fruition, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that made this achievement possible. 

The realization of the Enga Provincial Hospital not only enhances the healthcare landscape of the province but also serves as an enduring legacy of Sir Peter Ipatas's commitment to the well-being of his constituents.
